Facing 2008 with Courage.....

Welcome to New Highland Baptist Church!  Thank you for

visiting our website.  We hope that you find it helpful.

There are several online resources under the link

“Spiritual Resources” that I hope you will use to strengthen your walk

with Jesus Christ.  If you are seeking more information about how to become a Christian, please click on “What is a Christian” and email us.  We will do everything we can to help connect you with a local church for follow up.

As you begin this New Year, I pray that God will help you to face every challenge with strength and courage.  God’s word tells us to “Be strong and courageous” (Deuteronomy 31:6, NIV).  In Talent is Never Enough, Dr. John Maxwell (click on http://www.injoy.com/ ) shares ten lessons of courageous leadership:  1. Convictions that are stronger than my fears. 2. Vision that is clearer than my doubts. 3. Spiritual sensitivity that is louder than popular opinion. 4. Self-esteem that is deeper than self-protection. 5. Appreciation for discipline that is greater than my desire for leisure. 6. Dissatisfaction that is more forceful that the status quo. 7. Poise that is more unshakeable than panic. 8. Risk-taking that is stronger than safety-keeping. 9. Actions that are more robust than rationalization. 10. A desire to see potential reached more than to see people pleased.

Whether you are a leader in your home, church, workplace, or community, God is the Christian’s source of strength and encouragement.  The Bible says, “Have not I commanded you? Be strong, vigorous, and very courageous. Be not afraid, neither be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9, Amplified Bible).  May the God of Jesus Christ give you strength and courage today and each day in 2008.

                                                                                    -Pastor Bob Lee

Reverend Lee’s Central Values, Character, and Communication of Purpose:

Central Values:
Together (Fellowship) -- I seek to love my family and church family more deeply each day (Matthew 22:39).
Reach (Evangelism) – I will share my faith in Christ to help grow God’s kingdom (Acts 1:8).
Uplift (Worship) -- I seek to love Jesus more deeply each day (Mt. 22:37).
Teach (Discipleship) -- I desire to grow to be more like Jesus in word and deed (Phil. 2:5).
Help (Ministry) -- I want to grow in my vocation and calling as a pastor (Jer. 31:10; Jn.10).

Character: It has been said that “Character is who you are when no one is looking.” Christ is the model for our character as Christians. Each day, I pray that I will become more and more like Jesus. Through his grace, I seek to clothe myself [in Christ] (Col. 3:10) and will seek to improve myself and make better decisions. 2 Peter 1:3-11 guides me: “I am called; I have great promises of God; goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love add to my faith and will keep me from being ineffective and unproductive in the knowledge of Jesus Christ – without these attributes, I am shortsighted and blind – they help me be sure of my calling and I will not stumble; I will enter God’s eternal kingdom.”

Communication of Purpose: My life purpose is to live a lifestyle worship, to love my family and church family, to reflect Christ in word and deed, to serve as a pastor, and to help fulfill the Great Commission. As a pastor, I am called to equip all people with the tools to be ministers; to empower all people to do ministry; and to encourage all people as they serve in ministry.
